Greg, I've got a pair of beefy road wheels (32-hole cross-3 Deep-Vs, Ultegra hubs) in good condition...you're welcome to try 'em out for the weekend, and we can talk price if they suit.
WTB: road parts - single speed everything, wheels etc
I scored a 1995 Fuji Roubaix road bike steel frame and fork and am going to try the singlespeed thing with it for now and most likely do a century in Ohio at the end of July. I need a decent set of wheels, handlebars, brakes, stem and the works. No rush on this and I'm open to suggestions since it's my first SS.
I need some not so fancy 700c wheels and a cassette for 9spd 105, Preferably by this weekend (6/2). These are going on a Cannondale R600 that my girlfriend just got for $200 which seemed like a good deal for the components alone though the frame is rough. I have one Mavic CXP21 rear wheel I can probably get true with some work if someone has something similar for a front they can sell me. There's currently a SRAM 11/28 7spd cassette on it that looks to be "okay" if anyone wants it.
Just in case someone has one in good condition, I need a 10speed 11-28T cassette (105 or?) and a chain. Otherwise I'll have to get this new. Probably going to need a 34/50 105 crankset as well.
Going to go pick around at Kraynicks this weekend.
Thanks Dan, I think I have a cheapo (<$100) set of wheels lined up to pick up tomorrow from someone here. I think I saw your thread for those though, are they the heavier onese? I want to upgrade mine eventually but am not in the market for a nice set for myself yet.
I have a pile of handlebars I would love to thin out, I'll try to take a pic of some tonight you could pick something from, free. Are you thinking drops?
Is it a 1" threaded steerer tube by chance? Don't know if I have any stems, but I'll check.
Edmonds, thanks. I actually don't know much about the frame. It's a 25th anniversary Roubaix
I was thinking about doing bull horn bars but will do drops to start.
I have a pair of road drops you can have a look at. I live in Edgewood.
@edmonds59: if your handlebar pile includes one that i could cut up, i would like to try the diy project dmtroyer mentioned here: http://bike-pgh.org/bbpress/topic/anyone-have-a-skewer-light-mount-they-arent-using#post-99436
Cool. There's a good chance I have something hackable. All my straight bars might be steel though. I'll see what I have.
I might even already have some pieces cut like that, I have hacked some straight bars to narrow.
Let me know if you still need wheelset and 9 spd 105 cassette. I have one that I will be listing on eBay this weekend. In good shape.
ajbooth, singlespeed wheels at all or no?
I do need a 105 9spd cassette still if they're together and you can part.
just saw this on craigslist. I realize you don't need a frame but this could get you pretty far for $85.
I was too tired to dig through my stuff and make decisions last night. I'll get to it.
dmtroyer, I always need frames. That posting was gone when I checked it last night though.
Ryan, can I take a peek at those handlebars at some point this week? I live in regent square area so I'm close to you. Edmonds, I'll let you know if rsprake's handlebars aren't what I'm looking for.
@fly that's too bad. it was an origin8 55cm frame with fork, wheels (flip flop hub), stem, seatpost and bottom bracket.
I have a Campy Melbourne 56 front wheel with a Miche hub to part with and a fairly true Macic CXP 23 Ultegra 9 speed hub rear if your CXP 21 doesn't work out. The Campy front is a bear to mount a tire on, at least with a wire bead. In a month or so I'll have an early model Ultegra compact 175 mm crankset to pass along... left crank has a few stripped threads, but is entirely functional as long as you mount the pedal cautiously.
Thanks quizbot, I got a set of wheels last night that are perfect for the r600. I still need a set of single speed wheels though and the rest.
