WTB: Used folding bike

I'm looking for a used folding bike for occasional use. Saw one on Craig's List a while back but didn't follow up like I should have.

I bought the one on Craigslist a few weeks back. I plan to use it only occasionally, mostly when I travel. K, you are free to borrow it pretty much any time...

You may have gotten the one I was looking at for the same reason. I may take you up on that offer at some point but I want to have my own sitting in the trunk of the car so that I can use it without advance planning. I'll keep searching Craigslist and maybe someone else will come across an opportunity.

I did to. Considering. What does one of those go for new? I am a bit tendant towards a different style. Not sure what that is but something other than this one. I'll know it when I see it.

Jerry Kranick had a Dahon 3 speed for sale $100 about two weeks ago in the back area of the shop. He may still have it.

Maybe Nick can weld two of those together.

I like the way the Dahon 3 looks more than I like the model on Craigs list. Of course, having the price drop to $50 is a factor. I'll have to call Kraynicks.

I looked up the Unis name on Google. The report I read said it was a Yugosalvian manufacturer, and used unusual sizes in at least one key part. (Can't remember what part) Strongly encouraged potential buyer to keep all original parts, in the event of attempts at "upgrading" the bike was under consideration.

Don't know anything about the model that is currently for sale, of course..... Brand name may have been sold, reputation improved over time, etc.

I'm at work so I can't check Craigslist.

Kordite, as I mentioned via PM, I'd be interested in going in a purchase of both if you wished...

Good idea. Interested. Can you guess at the model or link to another online photo that looks like this bike since Craigslist is blocked for me?

kordite

I don't know the brand well enough to guess, and the images are too compressed to read the text. Try calling the phone number?

[Edit]If the lawn and retirement-looking van in the background are any indication, I'd guess these have been carefully maintained or stored well.

I'm guessing it's a Dahon Classic V, but I'm not sure.

My wife sent me the pictures. It looks like an older model Dahon Mariner. I found a link on ebay (yea, I know, my job blocks Craigslist but lets ebay through) wanting nearly $600 for a pair so getting this pair for half that is probably a good deal.

Sounds good to me, especially given the included fenders, racks, and cases.

reddan

The cases alone are worth $50 or more.....

The bikes were in good condition, owned by some snowbirds to travel around their Florida home away from home. No rust. Chains clean. Gears shift. The brakes were worn and could use some replacements and adjustments. Treads worn but probably not to the point of replacement quite yet. A good purchase, I think.

BTW, thanks for the C-list detective work, Hyla!

Awesome! Maybe one of you gents will consider lending one to the Try-A-Bike Jamboree on July 2?

I have 2 Red Dahon california's from the 80s I wouldn't mind getting rid of. They are 3 speed bikes with carrying bag. May need to adjust the archer shifters, but they are pretty mechanically sound otherwise.

I'd like to get around $100 for them if sold individually, I'd take $150 for the pair. PM me for details.

@Hyla: Try-A-Bike is one of the reasons I wanted to acquire one. That, and folders are just cool...

I have a Dahon RV Mate folder I would sell for $75 as I don't really use it much anymore. I will even throw in the big white WALD handlebar basket I use with it if interested.

I used to keep it in my office when I worked near the 30th street block of Liberty Ave in the strip and wanted to be able to quickly scoot into downtown or to the populated area of the strip to grab lunch and/or run errands without having to walk half an hour to get there or move my car.

pghmtnbike@yahoo.com if you would like some photos. I probably have a few somewhere.

I have the original folding pedal with it but the bearings loosen up all the time if you ride it regularly so I put standard cage pedals on it. Everything else was rebuilt from the frame up when I bought it so it is in awesome condition.

I'm looking for a folding bike and I'm not having too much luck on craigslist. Just wondering if anyone on the board has one they want to get rid of.

I have one....i posted it here a few months ago, but then did not follow up. It is a Dahon, but I can't remember the model off hand. Tires are currently flat, but I could have it downtown pretty much any time, if you want to look at it.
