NEW VOLUNTEER SECTION

There is a NEW section of the Bike Pittsburgh website where you can get all of our latest Volunteer needs! Go to the “Volunteer” section of the Bike Pittsburgh website.

We hope that you’ll take a look and see if there is something there for you! Be sure to take a look at the “Ride Leaders”, “Free Ride”, “Pedal Pittsburgh”, and “Bike To Work Week” opportunities.

SPRING MEMBERSHIP RALLY CONTEST

We want to add 150 new Full Members to our ranks by June 1st, and we’re hoping that you’ll help us. We’ve devised a very simple contest; the Full Member who gets the most new Full Members to join us will receive a nice messenger/commuter bag with a copy of “Breaking Away” – the classic Bike Movie – on DVD. Full details on the contest are available right on the Bike Pittsburgh Home Page. Just click on the image of the Membership Card for full details.

Here are some good reasons to join Bike Pittsburgh as a Full Member:

* High membership numbers attract attention and give us credibility – there is strength in numbers.

* We are working hard to improve cycling amenities and infrastructure – our recent Sprout Grant for sculpted bike racks is a good example.

* We serve as a hub for all things “bicycle” in the Pittsburgh Region – we are member-driven and cyclist-focused – the $12 minimum contribution for Full Membership helps us to not only maintain, but grow our list of services.

* The $12 minimum contribution for Full Membership is fully tax deductible – we are Western Pennsylvania’s only cycling advocacy 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

RIDE LEADERS NEEDED!

Bike Pittsburgh and The Western Pennsylvania Field Institute (www.wpfi.org) have co-sponsored dozens of Urban and Rails to Trails rides from Spring to Fall. We’re looking for volunteers to help us lead these rides! Over the next couple of months, we’ll be leading “Training Rides” just about every weekend. The purpose of the Training Rides is to familiarize ourselves with the best trails and cycling that the Pittsburgh Region has to offer, while teaching leadership skills and ride safety. Become a Bike Ambassador! For more information contact Sean Brady at the Western Pennsylvania Field Institute at: (412) 255-0564 or via email at: (sbrady@wpfi.org) or email us at: (volunteer@bike-pgh.org). A complete list of the Training Rides can be found in both the “Volunteer” section and “Events & Activities” section of the Bike Pittsburgh website.

See you there!
