Saturday night (January 27th) at 9:30PM a man who admitted to have been drinking alcohol, smoking crack and pot “all day” struck and killed 17-year-old Adrienne Keil of Bloomfield and pinned a 25-year-old man to a parked car causing severe injuries to his lower extremities. Both were walking along the 5500 block of Penn Ave. in the Friendship neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
This is another terrible and senseless tragedy. There have been three pedestrian deaths in Pittsburgh in as many months.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office today identified a pedestrian hit and killed last night in Friendship as 17-year-old Adrienne Keil of Bloomfield.
Ms. Keil was walking in the 5500 block of Penn Avenue in Friendship around 9:30 p.m. when a 1994 Dodge Caravan traveling outbound struck her. Another pedestrian, a 25-year-old man, also was hit. He was in critical condition today at Mercy Hospital. His identity has not been released.
According to Officer Glenn Aldridge, a Pittsburgh police accident investigator, after the minivan struck the pedestrians, it crashed into two parked vehicles, slamming one of those into another parked car. The minivan came to rest on top of one of the vehicles.
Police were unsure if Ms. Keil and other victim were together, or if they were passing each other on the street. The man spent the night in the operating room and had extensive injuries to his lower extremities, Officer Aldridge said.
The suspect, who was arrested a block away from the accident, is Angelo Rodriguez, 41, of Lawrenceville.
“He indicated he was drunk and had been smoking crack and marijuana all day,” Officer Aldridge said.
Mr. Rodriguez faces more than a dozen charges, including homicide by vehicle; homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence; aggravated assault and a variety of traffic charges.
