A number of cyclists were injured during the USA National Cycling Festival at Seven Springs in Somerset County.

Two cyclists were flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

The accident happened about three miles into the junior men’s road race this morning said Bob Duppstadt, spokesman for Seven Springs.

He could not confirm the number or identity of the riders involved in the accident. KDKA-TV reported that 36 people were injured. Some of them were transported to area hospitals, he said. No details are available on their conditions. The junior men’s race ended at 10 a.m., and the women’s race will be the last event today.

The cycling festival, which started July 5 and featured national championship races for junior, elite and master age categories, will end Tuesday.
