USA Today: Bicyclers can pedal new scenic miles

By Jayne Clark, USA TODAY

The non-profit Adventure Cycling Association is kicking off the new year with three new Eastern bike routes mapped out along scenic, low-traffic roads and bike paths.

The Adirondack Park Loop traverses 394 miles beginning and ending in Niskayuna, near Albany in upstate New York. Highlights include the Mohawk-Hudson Bikeway on the Mohawk River, Saratoga Springs and Lake Placid. In Virginia and West Virginia, the Allegheny Mountains Loop covers 396 miles starting and ending in Blacksburg, Va., with a number of different route options. And the 152-mile Pittsburgh Spur leads to Erie, Pa., and connects with the Underground Railroad bike route, which the association created in February.
