Friday, September 19, ALL DAY
Park(ing) is a one-day-phenomenon started in San Francisco that is now spreading both nationally and internationally. A collective of artists, activists, businesses and citizens Park(ing) provides a unique opportunity for people to collaborate, not compete, to transform parking spaces around the city into temporary active or passive ‘green’ spaces. The goal is to showcase the possibilities for reducing pollution and land development impacts from automobile use.
This year, Pittsburgh is taking part in National Park(ing) day with eighteen locations planned around the City.
Bike Pittsburgh will be taking over Mayor Luke Ravenstahl’s parking space for the day. Come by and hang out with us in our downtown park on Fourth at Grant St! You can also come and park your bike with us and we’ll watch it for you while you’re doing your business downtown.
