Even with its hills, tunnels and sometimes bizarre street and intersection configurations, Pittsburgh is a great city for walkaholics. The topography, in fact, makes Pittsburgh more interesting to walk than some flatter cities.
Pittsburgh is not touted for much of anything that’s cool. We’re simply not thought of. Recent writings about walkable cities point out that most of them also have great transit options…Among the Danish city’s “10-steps program” for walker friendliness are several things Pittsburgh is doing. One is to populate the urban core. Another is to encourage student living,such as at Point Park University. A third step is to promote cycling. Pittsburgh is slowly painting bike lanes and providing bike racks…
