With tons of cycling events coming up this summer like the Bicycle Film Festival, Car-Free Fridays, and Bike Fest 2009, it feels better than ever to be a cyclist in Pittsburgh. Free Ride, Pittsburgh’s community-run bicycle co-op is kicking off the party season by throwing a benefit dance party on Saturday, June 20th. Proceeds from the party will help run Free Ride and Urban Youth Action’s Mobile Bike Repair Project and Book ‘Em, Pittsburgh’s books-to-prisoners program. Check out more detailed party info below!
The Mobile Bike Repair Project is a community-building internship program which helps teens learn bike repair, leadership skills, and a deeper understanding of the sustainability in bike travel.
