I don’t buy the “urban vs suburban” thing where the writer claims that living in suburbia is somehow cheaper than living in the city. Perhaps it’s different in Vancouver, but all cities I’ve lived in, yes, you get less yard, less square footage for the same price in the city, but you don’t need your own yard, you have giant parks and neighborhood playgrounds all around. It’s actually far cheaper to live in the city because you can get rid of your car, easily a $500 / month expense.
