Funny “futuristic” highway video from the 50s.  What’s scary is some of the things that have actually come true.
  • Pennsylvania releases their DCNR Outdoor Recreation Plan.  According to the report, Pennsylvanians responded that “bike lanes” were cited more than any other type of desired recreational resource.  It’s a bit sad that dog parks, which came in second, are in some sort of bizarre competition with our safety.
  • Climate Summit Coverage got you down?  Check out the Copenhagenize ongoing coverage for an on-the-ground look at COP15 from the city’s most famous cycling commentator.
  • Million Mile Man, Danny Chew, watches Diana Marongiu-Lutz break his record for most most times climbing the 36 floors of the Cathedral of Learning – 102 times in 23.5 hours
  • US Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, derides Senator Coburn’s statement that spending stimulus money on bike infrastructure is a “waste.”  His response?  Coburn doesn’t “get bikes.” Then he goes on the Daily Show.
  • The New York Times Magazine “Year in Ideas” includes bicycle highways and suburban cul-de-sac bans
  • The Next American City Magazine discusses when “Rightsizing” is Wrong, using Pittsburgh as the example
  • Seen Green Pittsburgh discusses the upcoming World Environment Day that’s coming to Pittsburgh in June
  • Los Angeles is marketing it’s transit service to make it more appealing, fun, and cool – and it seems to be working
  • Should we replace the term “Rust Belt” for “Water Belt” and the “Sun Belt” with “Drought Belt?”
