It’s time to come up with your BikeFest! 2010 events!

Celebrate Pittsburgh and our vibrant bike culture!  Now entering the sixth year of BikeFest!

Hi Everyone!
We are excited to announce that it is officially time to start getting ready for BikeFest 2010 as it is coming up around the corner.  The Fest this year will take place August 6th to 15th including some great new events along with a few classics for everyone to enjoy.  We would like to reach out to you, Pittsburgh’s cycling community, to help out and get involved!

Every year we have a variety of events on the calendar ranging from group bike rides to movie screenings to repair workshops and more.  What really makes BikeFest! new and exciting every year is including you in our planning to create your own event or contribute ideas.  You can organize a ride, an art show, or anything you think might be a fun event that would fit with the our mission of celebrating Pittsburgh and it’s cycling community.

If you have an event planned out, click here for our handy webform to submit your event

If you don’t have the time to plan an event of your own, we would still like to hear your ideas and maybe try to pair you up with someone who has a similar goal.  Past BikeFest! calendars have some helpful ideas and can be found on our page http://www.bike-pgh.org/events/bikefest/.  There is always a need for volunteers too, so if you’d like to volunteer, just let us know how you would like to help.

A shot from last year’s BikeFest Kickoff Fundraiser Party

This year we’re really looking forward to our kick off party on August 6th, at the Pittsburgh Opera in the Strip District to celebrate all the hard work everyone contributes to making BikeFest! the best in can be.

It wouldn’t be possible without the great events and ideas put together by you, our cycling supportive community!  Feel free to e-mail bikefest@bike-pgh.org with any ideas or questions.  If you would like to plan an event, please have your submissions in no later than July 18th.  I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

Best,
Alexandra Jackson
