The potholes and ruts on Liberty Ave in Bloomfield
Winters are tough in Pittsburgh. The freeze thaw cycle without a doubt takes its toll on our streets. Liberty Ave, a major bicycle route in the City, is one of the worst hit streets in the Burgh. We went out with a camera to document just how bad it is. And, as all of us bicyclists know very well, a lot of the damage is right smack dab where we ride making these potholes and fissures all the more dangerous for us. We’re hoping to get this addressed this year.

I’ve been wanting to document the mine field for some time now. I really hope the city gets to it, and also the alleged redesign of Liberty / Main this year.
I was just on Liberty this morning and couldn’t believe how awful it’s getting. So many small holes right where the sharrows are!

I was sitting at that redlight and saw a bike ride by, and was thinking how lucky he was that he could avoid that mess (well, at least easier than the cars can)
Next up, the mile long pot-hole that is the Boulevard of the Allies going through Schenley Park…Seriously, is there actually any PAVED road there?
