Two Local Businesses Receive Award at the National Bike Summit

Chatham University and Urban Design Associates join 53 other businesses nationwide

At the National Bike Summit going on this week in Washington D.C. the latest round of Bike Friendly Businesses were announced. Chatham University and Urban Design Associates (UDA) join OTB Cafe and BikePGH as local honorees among the list of hundreds from around the country now recognized by the League.

Bike Friendly Business recognition is part of the League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly America program that helps communities, businesses, states and now universities improve conditions for bicycling. People want to live, work and visit places with good bicycle infrastructure and access. Promoting bicycling is a simple solution to many challenges we face as a nation, improving sustainability, physical activity and quality of life.

Among the goals of BikePGH’s new Bike Friendly Employer program is to help local businesses earn the national recognition and further establish a bike friendly culture here. Both UDA and Chatham were part of the inaugural class of bike friendly employers announced at BikePGH’s annual member meeting in February.

The next deadline to apply to be a Bike Friendly Business is in July.  Contact us now to help your business make the list!
