Your Active City leads several rides to share the basics
In anticipation of Bike to Work Day on May 20th new local tour company Your Active City is offering short rides/tutorials geared toward introducing cyclists to commuting. The ride covers basic use of the riverfront trails as well as how to bike in traffic on the roads. The tutorial portion covers very basic bike mechanics, how to plan your route, and clothing tips. This is meant to be an easy and basic introduction for cyclists that may never have commuted or even ridden in traffic before. The goal is to demonstrate how accessible commuting can be and how to make it safe and comfortable for each rider.
Upcoming Dates
May 1 from 1:00 to 3:00
May 14 from 1:00 to 3:00
Both rides meet at parking lot off Swineburne Road, at the end of the Eliza Furnace Trail.
To participate in any of the Commuting 101 rides you must register in advance at www.youractivecity.com.
Your Active City offers guided weekend and custom biking and walking tours
around Pittsburgh. Biking tours cover the Three Rivers Heritage Trails,
non-motorized trails running along the city’s riverfronts. This year they
are also offering monthly “Pittsburgh Rides” to show off city
neighborhoods along a single theme. April’s ride was Bike and Eat Badly,
Pittsburgh’s bakeries.
