Ladies “Urban Assault” ride with Chic Velo

Mon, August 15, 6pm – 9pm / Southside in front of REI (map)

We will meet at REI in SouthSide works, wind through city neighborhoods and back to South Side. End with food and drinks at OTB (Over the Bar Cafe on Carson). Approximately 25 miles– no drop ride with the ladies of Chic Velo. All ability levels welcome! We will be on city roads, so helmets are required for this ride.

Chic Velo hosts weekly clinics on Thursday nights at the Bud Harris Oval to work on bike handling skills and pack riding techniques. They also organize group rides to help all levels of riders improve their on-bike abilities. Check them out on Facebook under “Chic Velo presented by Human Vortex Training LLC.” for more details! Reproductive Rights Ride

Join us on this moderate 15-18 mile bike tour through several Pittsburgh neighborhoods and learn the history and growth of reproductive rights and services in our city and local neighborhoods. We will learn about the struggles and successes to ensure full access to reproductive health and how you can take action to keep our reproductive rights. Trek of Pittsburgh Group Ride

Mon, August 15, 6pm – 8pm / Trek of Pittsburgh – Robinson Township (map)

Group 1: B level riders, 30-40 miles Group 2: C level riders, 20-30 miles We meet at the Trek of Pittsburgh – Robinson Township location on Steubenville Pike. We have two groups that leave at 6:00 p.m. Group One does about 30 miles at a 15 to 17 mph pace, while Group Two is a beginner’s road group that averages 12-14 mph for a distance of 20 to 30 miles. We travel mostly back roads with minimal traffic through Moon and Findlay Townships as well as Imperial and Burgettstown. Ride Leader: Paul Kopko, paulk@trekofpgh.com, 412-788-8735.

Trekking to Root 174 Mountain Bike Ride

Mon, August 15, 6pm – 8pm / Frick Park parking lot on Braddock Ave. (next to Biddle Building) (map)

This is a casual, no drop mountain bike ride for experienced riders through the singletrack trails of Frick Park presented by East End Brewing Co., Trek of Pittsburgh and Root 174. The pace will be casual, but expect to encounter logs, manmade bridges, rocks and other trail features. Trek of Pittsburgh will be bringing their mountain bike demo fleet for any riders who want to try out something new! Please plan to come no later than 5:30 if you would like to take a demo bike on the ride. Ride will last approximately 2 hours before ending at Root 174 in Regent Square for free snacks and hors d’oeuvres from our menu, and (best of all) free beers compliments of Scott at East End Brewing Co. Velomuse Ladies MTB 201

Mon, August 15, 6pm – 8pm / Frick Park Tennis Courts (S.Braddock near Biddle) (map)

This no-drop women-only ride will focus on advanced features: skinnies, log overs, wooden bridges, and high-speed switchbacks. There will be a bit of sessioning and instruction; however, riders are expected to have a fair amount of conditioning and bike-handling experience on their own so we can maintain a fairly consistent pace. Rain in excess (puddles still on the ground within an hour of ride start), cancels ride. Bikes and helmets in good condition are required, while riding snack, hydration and eye protection are strongly encouraged.

North Park Evening Mt Bike Ride

Join us for an evening mountain bike ride through North Park, all skill levels welcome.

The Great Roberto Clemente Great Ride

WhenMon, August 15, 7:00pm – 8:30pm / Roberto Clemente Statue @ PNC Park (map)

This is a reenactment of a ride first done five years ago. We will meet at the Clemente statue at PNC Park. We will ride over the Clemente Bridge and make our way to the house located in the Sugar Hill section of the Hill District where Roberto first lived when he came to Pittsburgh. After the ride we will venture to the OTB and toast the memories of Roberto Clemente and “The Gunner” Bob Prince with a cold Iron City (or a cold lemonade).
