Thursday, Jan 16: Check out the launch of GASP’s Bicycle Air Monitoring Map
The Group Against Smog and Pollution (GASP) and Athletes United for Healthy Air invite you to come and check out our brand new, interactive Bicycle Air Monitoring Map. The map, compiled from handlebar mounted particulate matter monitors (see photo), allows folks to investigate air quality on their biking, walking, and running routes. The data helps us understand where the particulate matter hotspots are so that riders can make informed decisions about their routes as well as to suggest solutions.
Meet in the GASP office on Thurs. January, 16th @5:30pm. At 6pm, GASP staff will present the project and discuss some sources of air pollution that you should be on the lookout for.
Afterwards, feel free to play with the map, chat with GASP staff, and give feedback! GASP wants to know what you think and how the project can be expanded and improved.
Food will be provided by the fine folks behind Pierogi Night.
Special thanks to Google for providing the funding for the project and to the University of Pittsburghs Computer Science Program for making this possible.
See GASP’s Facebook Event page or the GASP website for more details.
