The Forum will continue the momentum of our Women & Biking Zine Night by engaging a variety of women in conversation about bike culture in the Pittsburgh area. Facilitating a supportive space for women who bike is essential to growing a healthy community. Bike Pittsburgh is committed to representing a diversity of Pittsburgh’s residents, visitors, and supporters.
A day of facilitated workshops, discussion groups, and keynote speakers aims to provide a space for women to talk about their experiences and gain knowledge and resources. Bike Pittsburgh’s Women and Biking Program works to encourage more women to incorporate bicycling into life in a way that feels comfortable to them. By opening the discussion about women’s lived experiences and challenges, we can assess how to better provide support and resources for women who want to ride bicycles in Pittsburgh.
Women of all ages and skill levels will find workshops directed towards basic bike adjustments, upkeep, the fundamentals of riding, and choosing appropriate layers for riding in any weather. Discussion groups will focus on riding with children and families, navigating bike shops, safety, incorporating bicycling into your life, and experiences (the good, the bad, the silly). Enjoy a free catered lunch and build community with other women!
A casual group ride hosted by Pittsburgh Babes on Bikes will bring the forum to a close, celebrating the women and biking community.
Your thoughts matter! Come learn, share, and support a community of women who ride bikes.
