“How Can I Get Involved?”

Bloomfield Livable Streets 1st Meeting

Bloomfield Livable Streets’ inaugural meeting in September 2014

Looking for additional ways to take action and make Pittsburgh’s streets safer?

At this year’s BikePGH Annual Members’ Meeting we heard over and over again that people desired a dedicated place to get information about upcoming opportunities to speak out and organize. So, if you’re searching for a way to get involved, (beyond membership and volunteering) we’ve got you covered.

We’re excited to announce that we’ve created a new Civic Calendar specifically for public meetings, calls to action, and bike and pedestrian committee meetings! (Learn more about these committees below.) The calendar can be accessed from the homepage by clicking the Get Involved tab and selecting Take Action from the dropdown menu. Hint: bookmark the page now.

Starting or Joining a Bike and Pedestrian Committee
Bike and pedestrian committees (or bike/ped committees) are groups of local residents volunteering to make streets safer in their neighborhoods. It’s a great way to get involved while meeting neighbors with similar interest and concerns.

While these committees are all independent groups, Bike Pittsburgh happily provides support to each committee by providing information and/or attending meetings.

To join an existing group, contact an organizer or attend an upcoming meeting. If you are interested in starting a committee, email info@bikepgh.org — we’d love to help you get one up and running.
