Show off your route to work by leading a group of commuters on Bike to Work Day, Friday, May 15th
By Bobby Abramson
Believe it or not, Bike to Work Day is just around the corner! Every year this holiday (yes I’ll call it a holiday) gives people a chance to try commuting to work by bicycle and learn that, “Hey, biking to work isn’t that hard after all!”. Each year BikePGH fuels their ride at morning pop-up Commuter Cafés with free snacks, coffee, good cheer and other goodies to start riders’ days with a smile.
For 2015, we’re doing bike trains again! A Bike Train is a group bike ride to work – kind of like a carpool. Everyone meets at a planned spot in the morning for the ride in to work, led by an experienced conductor. No one is left behind on hills or at red lights. Beginner cyclists get riding tips from experienced riders, and everyone gets to ride in with a crowd of buddies. Bike Trains will start at popular locations around the city and end at our 5 commuter cafés:
If you’re interested in being a bike train conductor, taking some potentially beginner bike riders along on May 15th to the nearest Commuter Cafe, Sign up here:
When filling out the form we ask that you include a little bit of information about your ride. You can share whatever you want. We’re looking for rides to end at commuter cafés, so your “passengers” can stop by and pick up some coffee, breakfast and swag.
I’m looking forward to 5/15. Its always a fun day to be out riding a bike.
