It’s Easy to Get to (and Through) the OpenStreetsPGH Route

OpenStreetsPGH is a series of FREE events that opens streets for all people to walk, skate, dance, run, bike, explore, and play, while temporarily closing them to vehicle traffic. Check out the full activity schedule and the event route, which has 12 permeable intersections.
 

How do I get to OpenStreetsPGH?

Short version: However you’d like! We strongly suggest walking, riding a bike, or taking public transit.

Walking or Biking
If you walk, you can enter the course wherever you’d like. There’s no start or end point and no barricades for pedestrians or bikes.

There will be additional bike parking in Market Square (be sure to retrieve your bike by noon!), on top of normal on-street bike parking.

Transit
There are detours for all of the busses along the OpenStreetsPGH route.

Driving to OpenStreetsPGH?

Here are the main things you need to know if you are driving:

  1. There are 12 permeable intersections where cars will be able to cross the OpenStreetsPGH corridor for the duration of the event. Use the route map to plan your trip.
  2. Most parking garages will be unaffected open for parking.
  3. Parking shuttles will be available in the Strip District for Sunday morning shoppers to get to and from their parking spaces.

If you drive, you’ll need to park nearby and walk OpenStreetsPGH route itself is closed to cars. Most major parking lots and garages will be accessible during OpenStreetsPGH. Use ParkPGH to see check the availability parking spaces in Downtown and North Shore parking lots.

I need to drive somewhere on Sunday morning. What do I do?
While the course itself will be closed to cars, detours will be marked and auto traffic will be able to cross the route at major intersections. For more details, see this map (link). If your destination is on the course itself, you’ll need to park nearby and walk.
 

Parking

Will I be able to park along the route?
For safety reasons, there is no parking along the route during the event. We will begin towing cars at 3 AM on Sunday to ensure that the course is clear and safe by morning.

Where can I park to do my grocery shopping in the Strip District
Parking lots will be available in the Strip District, in addition, OpenStreetsPGH will be providing
