We’re celebrating the freedom to ride in this new campaign
It’s fast and convenient. It’s part of a healthy lifestyle. It’s a thrill and a sense that you’re seeing your city in a unique way. Or maybe it’s all of the above?
There are many different reasons why Pittsburghers choose to move by bike. BikePGH asked some local influencers what motivates them to take to the roads.
“I ride for the freedom, and riding my bike is the only activity that instantly transports me back to childhood.”
– Monica Garrison @blackgirlsdobike
“Anything I want to do, I can do because of bike riding.”
– Mike Potoczny @thewheelmill
“For the fun of it and the trails (especially The Steel Valley Trail). Also, my name is an anagram for ‘Bike Racks’.”
– Rick Sebak @rickaroundhere
“Convenience, don’t need a car! Seeing the city grow into a bike friendly community and influencing my friends to hop on their bikes and ride.”
– Wesley Shark @mindgrains
“I’m a late night worker and late riser, so biking is faster than walking and taking the bus.”
– Renee Piechocki
“When I’m on my bike I get to see Pittsburgh from a different perspective.”
– Baron Batch @baron_batch
“It’s the best way to see my city.”
– Laila Archuleta @lailaarchuleta
“For the rush!”
– Cody Baker @tehbakery
“I really feel apart of my city when I bike. Its also the only exercise I get these days!”
– Chancelor Humphrey @keeppghdope
“Riding a bike is the only way to see all of the beautiful public art and graffiti constantly going up around the city. Also cycling has become my ‘go-to’ way of staying active since my schedule doesn’t allow time for basketball anymore!”
– D.S. Kinsel @dskinsel
