How Long Will it Take You to Ride to D.C.?

By Ngani Ndimbie

Been thinking about making the trip to DC astride your bicycle? Type 2 Clydesdale Cyclist, a.k.a. our friend Vannevar Bush, has come up with something truly brilliant: a calculator that estimates the number of days it will take you to complete the trip based on factors like age and fitness level.

Enter at least two pieces of information and voila! you will have an estimate of of how many days you will spend pedaling the 334.5 miles between the Steel City and our nation’s capital.

The calculator definitely gets the BikePGH staff stamp of approval. I tried it out with a few of my colleagues and our responses were pretty much identical: “Yep. That’s about right.”
