BikePGH is excited for this year’s National Bike Challenge!

As the National Bike Challenge gets underway, many different businesses are starting their own workplace challenges.  Companies have used it not only to engage employees, but have also used it as a means of connecting with the local community and advocating their support for biking.  Many workplaces have adopted their own office challenge, suited to meet the needs of their company and further promote participation.

This year, BikePGH is encouraging its employees to keep logging their miles by offering a  by offering $25 for lunch to those who win the monthly challenges.  By using this strategy BikePGH is hoping to keep everyone engaged and biking throughout the whole five month event.  So far our participation in May is at an all time high. To top things off the grand prize winner— whoever earns the most points throughout the challenge— will win a day off ‘staycation’ with dinner and a hotel room in town.

Here is what the BikePGH office challenge looks like.

Official Monthly Challenges:

May – Most points in May (rock-paper-scissors tiebreaker)

June – Most days ridden in June (total points breaks a tie)

July – Most miles in a day in July (total points breaks a tie)

August – Longest riding streak in August (longest streak total breaks a tie)

September – Total challenge points (rock-paper-scissors tiebreaker)

Starting your own workplace challenge can help your staff be even more motivated to participate.  No matter your budget, using simple and inexpensive rewards like small prizes, gift-cards, free breakfasts, or happy hours can help encourage employees to continue logging their miles and stay in it to win it!
