Speak up for the things that are important to you – Attend one of the City’s Capital Budget Deliberative Forums
Join the City for the 2016 Capital Budget Deliberative Forums. Hearings will follow the Deliberative Democracy format that gives residents the chance to learn more about what goes into the Capital Budget, discuss needs and priorities in a small-group setting, and ask questions of an expert panel. Residents will also have the chance to let the City know of specific Capital work in their neighborhoods that they would like to see done in 2017.
Last year, the deliberative forums were integral in making sure that Complete Streets Projects were a “Priority” category in the budget, yielding in one of the largest allocations of funds to these projects in recent memory. Also, citizen participation directly led to the forthcoming comprehensive “Complete Streets Policy” that the Department of City Planning is currently working on.
