Thousands Experienced Pittsburgh’s Streets Like Never Before at OpenStreetsPGH on June 30th

B-e-a-u-tiful Weather for OpenStreetsPGH

On Sunday, June 30th, OpenStreetsPGH visited Downtown, the Strip District, and Lawrenceville. Penn Avenue and Butler Street opened up for people on bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, and pedestrians for the day! Participants had the opportunity to visit hundreds of businesses from Market Square to the Strip District to Lawrenceville on our most popular route.

OpenStreetPGH temporarily closes streets to car traffic and invites Pittsburghers to reimagine their streets as places for people not just cars. BikePGH is celebrating the 5th Anniversary of OpenStreetsPGH this year and has one last OpenStreetsPGH event planned this summer visiting Downtown, Uptown, and the South Side.

Presented by UPMC Health Plan, OpenStreetsPGH is Pittsburgh’s fastest growing free event series that opens miles of streets to people of all ages and abilities.

The event is organized by BikePGH, a registered 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit, who works on behalf of the Pittsburgh community to make the city safe and accessible for everyone to bike and walk. BikePGH is committed to improving the health and quality of life of Pittsburgh through increased access to safe bicycling and walking facilities, and by creating opportunities to bike and walk for all.
