Celebrate walking to school this October with Walk to School Day
Walk to School day is an international holiday held every year to champion our students’ trek to school. It’s also a great opportunity to encourage the most healthy, affordable, and environmentally conscious form of transportation available to students.
This Walk to School Day, join school communities throughout the United States and more than 40 countries to encourage a safe and healthy walk to school!
Get Involved!
- Schools can register to participate on the Pittsburgh DOMI Safe Routes to School website.
- The school with the most student walkers will receive the SRTS Golden Sneaker Award. Register your school now!!
- Download the Walk to School Day toolkit, flyer, and other promotional materials from the SRTS website.
- Local celebrity walkers will join students at several selected schools.
- If your business or organization would like to participate as volunteer walkers, or for any questions please contact the Safe Routes to School Coordinator at saferoutestoschool@pittsburghpa.gov.
