Help ensure a redesigned Forbes Ave is safe for all users on August 23 from 6-8PM
The reconstruction of the Fern Hollow Bridge presents an opportunity to improve safety along the Forbes Avenue corridor from S. Braddock to Beechwood. Please join the Office of the Mayor and the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) for a hybrid in-person & virtual community listening session to share your thoughts on how the city can improve safety for all who travel through this vital corridor.
While given a very short timeline, the City is interested in improving the existing bike lanes on Forbes Ave, as well as hearing about your experiences with the intersections of Forbes/Dallas/Beechwood and the Beechwood/Forbes dangerous slip ramp/cut through.
Forbes Avenue traffic was fast and dangerous prior to the bridge collapse, and the existing intersection configurations are confusing, chaotic, and car-oriented. At this stage, it’s crucial to show up and vocally support a people-centered design that makes it safer to walk, bike or use a wheelchair.
Forbes Ave is set to reopen as soon as the Fern Hollow Bridge is complete, which could be as early as the end of the year. Now is the time and show support for a redesign of this corridor in order to provide safe access for all Pittsburghers, no matter how we travel.
