PARTY ON: It’s Our 20th Anniversary on 9/24 🎉

Celebrate how far we’ve come in transforming Pittsburgh for the better

In 2002, the odds were greatly stacked against us and our vision of a Pittsburgh that was safe for biking and walking. Twenty years ago they said we were never going to convince our city to become bike-friendly, and in fact, Bicycling Magazine ranked Pittsburgh “the Worst city in the US to ride a bike.” It was also twenty years ago when we were told speed humps were “illegal” and could never be done.. well, safe to say we fixed that one, among other things.

Since then, our tireless advocacy, combined with key partnerships with the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure, City Planning, and Public Works have, despite all odds, helped to make our city a better place to live. From the first bike lane we ever advocated for (Liberty Ave in 2007) to the latest bike lane install (S. Aiken in 2022), our work has substantially grown our bike network and changed the physical landscape of Pittsburgh, not to mention attitudes toward safe, affordable, and accessible transportation alternatives. And while we still have a long way to go, it’s time to celebrate what we’ve accomplished thus far!
