Action Alert: Lawrenceville Mobility Enhancement District Meetings

Kickoff Meeting on Thursday, April 13 at Arsenal Middle School

Along with changes in Lawrenceville, issues surrounding mobility, infrastructure and parking have come to the forefront. Lawrenceville Corporation and Lawrenceville United have launched a community engagement process around these issues, and the kickoff meeting is happening soon!

Join these meetings to learn about legislation proposed by Councilwoman Gross that would create a Mobility Enhancement District (MED) for Lawrenceville. This would establish a local fund for mobility improvements by adding meters and extending meter hours into the nighttime when parking demand is often at its highest. We at BikePGH are excited about the possibility of having more funding to improve our streets for people who walk, bike, bus, and use mobility aids in Lawrenceville.

Potential uses of MED may be based off of the Lawrenceville Corporation’s Butler Street Design Guidelines Plan (est. 2019) and may include improvements such as: bus shelters, sidewalk repairs, bike infrastructure, street trees, parklets, placemaking and traffic calming.

Possible changes to Residential Permit Parking (RPP) will also be discussed including questions such as:

  • Do hours need to be extended?
  • Should we add new RPP areas?
  • Should Lawrenceville institute hybrid areas where there is the option to pay the meter or have a residential pass?

BikePGH will be participating in the discussions about all this and offering feedback at the meetings and Open Houses throughout April and May. We encourage Lawrenceville residents to join us who are passionate about mobility improvements! The Kickoff will be April 13th at 6:30 p.m. at Arsenal Middle School. See the other dates below. For more information, come to the kickoff and check for updates at bit.ly/LVMobility2023. A community survey will be launching there soon.
