Take a car-free adventure from the Science Center, across the Andy Warhol Bridge to Market Sq, through the Armstrong Tunnel across the 10th St Bridge 🚴🏙️🚶
Over the river and through the woods…wait – that’s not it! Over the river and through the tunnel, to South Side we go! OpenStreetsPGH is here again with our classic Downtown to Southside route, but back and bigger! We have added a 1-mile extension into the North Shore to explore all the neighborhood has to offer, including the iconic, bright yellow, Andy Warhol Bridge! Explore the North Shore, Downtown (including Market Square!), and the South Side, Armstrong Tunnel, and 10th St Bridge at OpenStreetsPGH on Sunday, May 28th from 10am – 2pm.
Hosted by BikePGH and presented by UPMC Health Plan, OpenStreetsPGH is Pittsburgh’s fastest-growing free event series that opens miles of streets for people of all ages and abilities to explore our neighborhoods while biking, walking, and rolling.
OpenStreetsPGH May 28th Route
The first route of our full OpenStreetsPGH season takes you on a journey free from cars for almost 4 miles! We start out at the Carnegie Science Center, down N. Shore Drive past the homes of our beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, across the vibrant Andy Warhol Bridge, into Market Square, up Forbes Ave to the Armstrong Tunnel, and across the 10th St Bridge to the scenic business district on East Carson St in South Side.
- Where should I go? We kick it off on the North Shore at BikePGH’s Kids Hub at N. Shore Dr & Art Rooney Ave featuring a Learn to Ride course from BikePGH’s Education Team, fun filled activities from local organizations, and a mini BMX course from The Wheel Mill. The next stop is in Market Square at BikePGH’s Health & Wellness Hub featuring fitness classes for all ages and skill levels hosted by the YMCA and a cooling station from our presenting sponsor UPMC Heath Plan. When you reach the South Side check out BikePGH’s Arts & Culture Hub on E. Carson St. between 20th and 21st for music from local artists Kenny Stockard, Stone Throwers, and Wade Anthony Jr, curated by Keystone Artist Connect.
- What will you see & find along the route? There will be yoga, dancing, shopping, biking, walking, children’s activities, running, lots of food, people watching, and more. See the full events schedule here.
- How do I get to the event? However you’d like! We strongly suggest walking, riding a bike, or taking public transit. Check out details & directions on the Getting Here page.

I live along the route. What do I need to know?
Streets will begin closing Sunday, May 28th at 9 a.m. and will start reopening around 2 p.m. ⚠️ Cars parked along the route must be moved before 3 a.m. on Sunday morning or they will be towed. ⚠️ “No Parking” signs will be placed along the route on Thursday.
I have a business/organization along the route. What do I need to know?
First and foremost, we would love to have you participate as a Route Host! Route Hosts are located directly along an OpenStreetsPGH event route and often choose to extend their storefronts onto the sidewalk or street during the event hours to provide an activity for participants. Activities range from offering special discounts to event attendees or having a fun activity in-store to pop-up parklets, and everything in between. Click here to submit your Route Host application by May 12th.
Secondly, please see the road closures/no parking information above and let your staff and customers know about the changes and towing. Thank you!
