BikePGH Launches Summer Advocacy Training Series

Level-Up (or start) Your Advocacy for Safer Walking & Biking

If you are part of a community advocacy group interested in pedestrian and/or bicycling safety, or if you’d like to start such a group, you need to have something your group can work on together that will lead to tangible change for your community — a campaign!

Of course, that’s easier said than done. You might already be running into some challenging questions:

  • There’s so much that needs to change! What to focus on?
  • How to get started?
  • Who can help me?
  • Who has the power to do something about my issue, and how do we get to them?

Or perhaps you’ve been running a campaign already, and it could use a boost of creativity and energy.

Wherever you are on your advocacy journey, we’re here to help!

Our Summer Advocacy Training Series is designed to help advocates of any level experience (or none yet) craft a winning advocacy campaign and give you the support you need to be successful.

Our first training on July 20th is called “The Walk Audit: An Effective Tool For Community Change” led by our Advocacy Manager, Seth Bush. You’ll learn how to use a simple walk around your neighborhood to identify meaningful changes you can work towards, engage new people in your efforts, and “make the case” to elected officials about the need for change.

Then, on August 1st, join guest trainer Carter Lavin for an interactive virtual training about how to take all of your ideas for change and choose one campaign goal to focus on that is both impactful and winnable. This one is called “Choosing Winning Pedestrian & Bike Advocacy Campaigns” and will be held on Zoom.

And finally, on August 19th, create a plan of action for your campaign in our full-day, hands-on “Strategies for Winning Campaigns” training led by BikePGH staff Seth Bush and Eric Boerer.

You can come to just one training, or get the full experience by attending all three.

We hope you can join us!

Send accessibility needs (including childcare requests) or other questions to Seth Bush (seth@bikepgh.org).
