And enjoy a day that replaces car traffic with community

OpenStreetsPGH invites you to celebrate Pittsburgh, encourages active transportation, and offers the chance to experience our city’s many neighborhoods from a new perspective. On July 30, 2023, Pittsburgh will come alive with energy and excitement as residents and visitors liberate themselves from the confines of their vehicles to enjoy a route connecting Oakland and Bloomfield from a people-centered perspective. Check out the full route here.

Car-Free Streets: Embrace the Freedom

For four hours, 10am – 2pm, Pittsburgh’s bustling car-laden streets are transformed into pedestrian-friendly zones, allowing you to roam freely and safely, unencumbered by traffic and vehicular noise and air pollution. This rare opportunity presented by BikePGH allows attendees to experience the city in a completely different way, fostering a deeper connection with your surroundings.

Vibrant Community Engagement:

OpenStreetsPGH is all about community and connection. From families with children to fitness enthusiasts, artists, musicians, and local businesses, you’ll encounter a tapestry of humanity coming together to celebrate their love for this remarkable city. Walk, jog, or bike through the city at a leisurely pace, discovering hidden gems and architectural marvels you may have missed before. Buy a book and grab a coffee at White Whale, pop into the Carnegie Museums and learn something new (they’re also air conditioned!).

You can see what’s new with the Pittsburgh Innovation District, or join a free yoga or hip hop cardio class with the YMCA of Pittsburgh. Familiarize yourself with projects underway with DOMI, Shadyside Complete Streets, and Grounded Strategies. Share the joy with little ones by stopping by BikePGH’s learn-to-ride course at the Peoples Natural Gas Kids & Family Hub. Bring your furry friend to Dogtopia’s cool-down station. Rent an e-bike and learn more about our city’s nonprofit bike share company, POGOH. Grind and ollie with Switch and Signal Skatepark. Support the event by donating with DipJar.
