2/19/24 Update: We had such a great time cheering you on at a particularly challenging and tricky checkpoint just off the wonderfully cobbled Buena Vista St in Northside this past weekend :) Not to mention, how lucky were we to get such a sweet snow storm the night before to make for truly frigid conditions! As always, the organizers did a great job putting this thing together and we can’t wait til next year. To see the photos we took at our checkpoint, click below!

Badass womxn prepare to brave the chill at legendary alley cat

11th Annual Frigid Bitch
Sat February 17, 2024
Pittsburgh, PA

Oh yeah, it’s that time of the year again: Frigid Bitch 11 is just around the corner! Are you planning on riding or supporting the event?? BikePGH sure is!

Created and run by Pittsburgh Babes on Bikes, this classic style alley cat is for women and under-repped gender identities only. It’s an annual tradition that embraces the cold winter weather and steep topography the Steel City is well-known for, and it’s all for a good cause: 100% of the registration benefits the Greater Pittsburgh Women’s Shelter and Center.

Embracing Pittsburgh winters, steep climbs, and an awesome community

While some may opt to hibernate indoors during the colder months, Frigid Bitch celebrates the resilience of winter cyclists, showcases the thrill of biking in all seasons, and fosters an extremely strong community of women and non-binary friends. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or a newbie looking to dip your wheels into the world of racing, you’ll find camaraderie and support among fellow riders in a riding space made just for you (…sans cis men).

Not only that, but this alley cat is an opportunity to discover Pittsburgh’s hidden gems and secret spots. With secret checkpoints scattered throughout the city, participants get to explore different neighborhoods, tackle challenging routes, and uncover new favorite riding spots along the way.

After the race is done and the winners have been determined, there’s a ton of post-race festivities where you can swap stories, share laughs, and celebrate with prizes.

See you at the checkpoint – and don’t forget a bike map!

Some of us at BikePGH will be riding in the race, and others will be cheering riders on at one of the secret checkpoints, along with friends from Pogoh. Remember, checkpoint locations will be kept secret until race day! All checkpoints (and their funny little names) will be announced one hour before the race, and at that time it’s a great idea to plan the route you’ll be taking to hit them. It’s up to you whether you want to hit one, or hit them all, but we highly recommend having a printed copy of our Official Pittsburgh Bike Map to aid you in your route planning. Pick one up at our office, or at bike shops around town!
