Everything you need to know for BikePGH’s annual fundraiser ride on August 25, 2024
Choose your adventure
With four different routes to choose from, all ages and fitness levels will participate in PedalPGH. And YES, adaptive bikes and e-bikes are always welcome! Each route is a different length, taking you through iconic Pittsburgh neighborhoods, parks, and bridges. Pick the ride that works for you:
- 12 Mile BikePGH River Loop: A family-friendly ride along the riverfronts. Mostly flat, trails, and protected bike lanes (~230ft of elevation)
- 25 Mile Steel City Media Local Tour: See the highlights of the Steel City with this on-street route, contains some climbing to challenge the average rider (~1300ft of elevation)
- 40 Mile Outside+ Grand Tour: A challenging route for more experienced riders, an opportunity to see most sections of the city and tackle some serious hills (~2500ft of elevation)
- 62 Mile U.S. Steel Epic Endurance Challenge: A metric century ride for experienced climbers only – climb to maximum elevations for maximum rewards! (~4500 ft of elevation)
When you register, you won’t need to choose your route immediately. You will receive your Digital Ride Guide in your email inbox the week of the event, and that’s when you can view detailed turn by turn routes and make your decision all the way up to the morning of the event. This is fun, flexible, and zero pressure – simply decide what route you’re riding on event day and make sure to arrive for that route’s rolling start time. Start times are listed below and all details will also be in the Digital Ride Guide sent to every registered rider.
Pro-tip: Come pick up your ride packet in advance of the event date (details below) so you have your bib number in hand and are ready to roll out on event morning. There WILL be a line on event day, so if you need to pick up your packet on the 25th, please plan to arrive a half hour before your start time.
Start & Finish in beautiful Allegheny Commons Park
It was a hit last year, so we’re doing it again! All PedalPGH routes begin and end in Allegheny Commons Park in the Northside. From here, participants can choose to embark on any of our 4 routes. Routes will be marked with colorful way-finding signs to guide you around the city and free audio navigation is also available when using the RidewithGPS app.
Rolling start times:
62 Mile BikePGH U.S. Steel Epic Endurance Challenge: 7 AM – 7:30 AM
40 Mile Outside+ Grand Tour: 8 AM – 8:30 AM
25 Mile Steel City Media Local Tour: 9 AM – 9:30 AM
12 Mile BikePGH River Loop: 10 AM – 10:30 AM
Wear your PedalPGH 2024 T-shirt or jersey on event day as you complete your ride – and please make sure to wear your bib number on Sunday! Your ride bib number contains a tear-off ticket for a free lunch and drink (either a Straub Beer or a canned cocktail from PA Libations!) at the Finish Line Festival, plus the Support and Gear Vehicle call number for any help you may need on event day. Fully stocked rest stops will be located on every route, as well as SAG vehicle support along all routes. The SAG number to call is listed on your bib.
After the ride, the Finish Line Festival in Allegheny Commons is the place to celebrate from 11am to 3pm! Riders receive a FREE Straub Beer or canned cocktail from local partners at PA Libations, a FREE taco from Condado along with lunch, a misting cool-down station, yard games from Shorty’s Pins x Pints, and live DJ sets from Pittsburgh Open Decks.
Participants can also purchase food and drinks from these fantastic vendors:
- Colombino Coffee (in the morning at the starting line)
- Mandu Handu (free for VIP riders, and available to purchase at the Finish Line festival. All vegan & gluten free!)
- Cool Beans Taco Truck (at the Finish Line Festival)
- Ineffable Cà Phê (at the Finish Line Festival)
- Millie’s (at the Finish Line Festival)
Why We Ride
BikePGH has produced PedalPGH since 2012, with the event raising over $1.5 million for bicycle and pedestrian advocacy in Pittsburgh. Registration proceeds fund BikePGH, a registered 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit, that works on behalf of the Pittsburgh community to make the city safe and accessible for everyone to bike and walk.
