ALL AGES AND ALL TYPES OF BIKES EXPLORED THE STEEL CITY
With four different route lengths to choose from, all ages and experience levels chose the adventure right for them. Routes ranged from 12 to 62 miles, with the 12 Mile BikePGH River Loop, 25 Mile Steel City Media Local Tour, 40 Mile Outside+Grand Tour, and 62 Mile U.S. Steel Epic Endurance Challenge.
Each route showcased Pittsburgh’s unique neighborhoods and incredible views while celebrating the city’s bicycle infrastructure. Through BikePGH’s year-round advocacy, we work hard to make sure Pittsburgh’s bike network stays growing every year, and our team loves curating these routes for you to highlight the very best of it.
Riders also enjoyed a supported ride with rest stops, aid stations from UPMC Sports Medicine, truly awesome mechanics Michael Cottle (Cottle Built), Trek, REI, and Pitt Bike Cave, plus Support and Gear vehicles, and way-marking route signage.
“Pittsburgh is the perfect city for biking, and PedalPGH is our time to celebrate it! We have bridges, rivers, trails, views, and, thanks to 22 years of BikePGH’s advocacy, fantastic bike infrastructure. This one-of-a-kind ride brings together the whole bike community, welcoming both casual and experienced cyclists to build support for our mission. As our biggest fundraiser, this is much more than just a one day event. Every rider and every registration contributes directly to making Pittsburgh safer for biking and walking all year-round,” said Kéya Joseph, Events Director at BikePGH.
After the ride, everyone came back to the Finish Line Festival in Allegheny Commons to celebrate. Thank you to our local partners at PA Libations, Shorty’s Pins x Pints, Zero Fossil, and Pittsburgh Open Decks for DJing the tunes. We also loved having Millie’s Ice Cream, Ineffable Cà Phê, Colombino Coffee, and Mandu Handu on-site for participants to enjoy.
Thank you also to the 80+ volunteers that helped make PedalPGH a reality! Every year we host incredible, hardworking volunteers that help with route marshaling, event set-up, serving lunch, and keeping up morale. Thank you especially to our PedalPGH Task Force Volunteers, who put in many hours and miles previewing the routes to ensure their safety. We are grateful for every volunteer we host, and we couldn’t do this all without them!
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING BIKEPGH
BikePGH has produced PedalPGH since 2012, with the event raising over $1.5 million for bicycle and pedestrian advocacy in Pittsburgh. Registration proceeds fund BikePGH, a registered 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit, that works on behalf of the Pittsburgh community to make the city safe and accessible for everyone to bike and walk.
The funds raised from PedalPGH registration sales, sponsorships, and merch sales make it possible for BikePGH to continue to work throughout the year to make Pittsburgh safer and more accessible for biking and walking. Thank you to everyone who who attended and supported, from participants to volunteers, staff, sponsors, partners, vendors, SAG drivers, mechanics, and marshals. This event is incredibly special and we look forward to next year.
See you next year!
