Speak up for better biking and walking
The key to a bike-friendly and walkable Pittsburgh lies in the City’s budget priorities. Think of the Capital Budget as the Mayor’s roadmap for building a better city, where funding reflects what matters most to them. As local advocates, we are calling for investments in safer streets.
Let’s ensure that our voices are heard loud and clear! This year, the City will hold three in-person and one virtual session to gather input on what should top the Mayor’s to-do list. These engagements are usually roundtable chats with your neighbors and representatives from various City departments that give you a chance to weigh-in directly about the priorities that are most important to you. This is a great opportunity to explain to the Mayor and the people who set the budgets that making biking and walking on our streets more safe, accessible, and enjoyable is vital to a thriving city and needs to be a priority.
The more of us who show up for crucial safety upgrades—like traffic calming, complete streets, bike lanes, trails, steps, curb ramps, crosswalks, and bump outs—the better chance we have of seeing these important projects funded.
