Take the Bike Bus to School this Fall! BikePGH’s New Video Shows You How

A man on a road bike with a yellow jacket and a woman on a cargo bike with an elementary aged child sitting in the back rides with a group of twelve adults and children. Some children are on their own bikes, others sit in the back of cargo bikes.

It’s back to school season and there’s no better time to put a new spin on your family’s commute to school

A bike bus is an organized bike ride to school with a designated route and meeting time. BikePGH’s brand new “How to Start a Bike Bus” video, print and online Bike Bus How To Guide, and Bike Bus Resource Package provide you and your school community with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to organize a bike bus to your school.

Our new video, produced and shot by Early Dawn Productions, and featuring a star-studded cast of volunteer families from Kidical Mass Pittsburgh and local schools, shows you how simple and FUN planning your bike bus can be!

Start Planning!

Now that you’re inspired, start planning with BikePGH’s Bike Bus How To Guide. Available as an easy to share one-pager and website, this guide helps parents, school staff, and volunteers organize bike and walking buses to their school community. Our guide makes planning your bus easy and shares the best practices to keep kids safe while biking or walking to or from school. We hope to see your bike or walking bus on The City of Pittsburgh’s Walk and Roll to School Day this October – email us at education@bikepgh.org for help planning or just to introduce us to your bike bus!
