New Coalition Seeks a Statewide Voice for Biking and Walking
We’re excited to introduce a brand new coalition of advocates from across Pennsylvania to put a broad focus on statewide issues that none of our individual organizations can fully dedicate the resources to.
The Coalition for Active Mobility in Pennsylvania, or CAMP for short, will “champion state-level policies in support of active mobility with a focus on promoting healthy, safe, affordable, and environmentally sound transportation choices for people across PA.”
The founding leadership includes Bike Pittsburgh, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Downtown Center, and Mobilify of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

CAMP’s priorities fall into several buckets:
- More funding for Active Transportation projects
- Biking and walking friendly planning and policies
- Legislation, around issues such as Parking Protected Bike Lanes, ebikes, escooters, and automated enforcement
- Pennsylvania internal policies and practices
- PennDOT reform
Many CAMP members will be in Harrisburg this week for a number of reasons, including the formal launch of the coalition at the Pennsylvania Statewide Active Transportation Summit from June 3-4.
Once launched, CAMP will be looking for other organizations around the state to join the coalition and be a singular voice for improving biking and walking in PA, so stay tuned!
Safe Streets Lobby Day on June 9
Safe streets coalition partners and heading to Harrisburg to lobby and advocate for Parking Protected Bike Lanes and safety measures such as Jay Alert and Intelligent Speed Assistance legislation. And we need more volunteeers.
Interested in attending?
Volunteers and advocates will meet inside the capitol around 9:30am and then join a legislative breakfast at 10am. The rest of the day will be filled with meeting with elected officials to talk about legislation to help make Pennsylvania safer.
