Positive Spin is Bike Pittsburgh’s youth education class, dedicated to introducing biking into children’s lives through a combination of learning skills, safety, and getting out to ride. Consider donating $5 to our Year End Campaign–in return you will receive a student made We Defeat Hills sticker, and help us reach our $5,000 stretch goal!
One of our students, Nysirh, wrote about her Positive Spin experience:
My name is Nysirh and I am 13 years old. The first day I pedaled a bicycle was on October 29th. I tried to pedal before then, but I was swerving and couldn’t steady myself. When it finally happened I was out in front of my school, I balanced and concentrated, then I put my feet on the pedals one at a time and got going. I was biking!
Positive Spin helped me with my fears. I think the trick was that I thought to myself, “don’t give up” and I told myself to be confident.
Biking makes me feel motivated. And now that I’ve learned how to ride I am excited to bike around my neighborhood and teach my older brother how to ride.
My goal for Positive Spin is to be able to ride with everyone else on the trails. I can’t wait for my class to start again in the spring!
We’re Gearing Up for Great Streets and part of that is educating our youth on how to incorporate biking into their lives. Please made a donation towards Bike Pittsburgh’s $5,000 stretch goal.
Donate $5.00 to BikePGH’s Year End Giving Campaign and we will mail you a We Defeat Hills sticker designed by a Positive Spin student! Your support will help us reach our $5,000 stretch goal.
