An indoor playground for mountain bikers, BMXers, and even unicycle riders
With 80,000 square feet and what must be a hundred thousand logs, 2x4s, and sheets of plywood, The Wheel Mill transformed an empty warehouse into a regional bike riding destination. With only a dozen or so similar facilities in North America, The Wheel Mill is a gem for any Pittsburgh Cyclist. The park is set up to offer fun for riders of all skill levels with 10 distinct rooms offering everything from a beginners skill area to expert BMX ramps. All cyclist are welcome at the park however it is recommended that you have either a Mountain or BMX bike. Don’t worry if you don’t have one, the park has its very own rental fleet for you to try out!
Easy Ride: Take a lesson!
If you’re a novice rider, veteran bike educators Karen Brooks and The Wheel Mill owner Harry Geyer are ready to teach you the basics. The City Cycling Fundamentals classes will help you practice balance, dial in your turns, and work on all the skills needed to get you on the trial. This personalized approach allows you to work on what you need to get pedaling in a very safe and comfortable class room environment. As an added bonus riders will have time before and after the class to practice new skills Fundamental Skills Room (and if you’re feeling feeling ready, you can try the rest of the park).

Take a lessonSaturday, February 18: Lumber Cross
Back again by popular demand for 2017, Lumber Cross is an indoor cyclocross race at The Wheel Mill Indoor Bike Park.The cross course will span the entire park with racers starting at 7pm. Spectator are welcome! Heckling is even encouraged with prizes for the best group.
Cost: Free for Spectators, $35 for Racers
Saturday, February 25: Winter Welcome Jam
The Winter Welcome Jam 2017 is being hosted at the park February 25th. At the heart of the jam is BMX, friends and good times. All ages are welcome! From Kids to Pros watch the best riders in the region have fun and show off their best tricks with live music starting at 8pm upstairs in the fundamentals room. Bands include Pennsylvania Dirt, Kenny Snyder, Grand Piano (you might remember from BikeFest 2015) and Side Eye.
Cost: $5 for Spectators, Normal Park Rates for Riders
