Ride Leader: Jim Logan contact Jim at: 412-580-8575 or jimlogan@verizon.net We generally ride variations of the same route of 20 or 25 miles, which are largely pleasant roads with a variety of hills. I’ve posted at B-, which means we welcome people that aspire to ride club B rides. NOTE THE ROUTE IS HILLY. The ride regroups at the top of hills. We’ll adapt the ride to who shows up. Abreviation to 10 miles is possible if you want to bail. As appropriate, we may break into 2 groups. We start with 20 miles early in the season, and progress to 25 miles or more. Allegheny Cycling Association Wednesday Criterium Races

Bud Harris Cycling Track (401 Washington Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15206)

Part of the ACA Summer Criterium Series hosted at Bud Harris Cycling Park and sponsored by the Allegheny Cycling Association. The race begins at 6:15 promptly and all riders must pay a $10 entrance fee that covers the USCF and City of Pittsburgh surcharge. The criterium covers the catagories of USCF 1-2-3 (Class A), 3-4 (Class B) Race and all winners will receive a cash prize. For any additional information please go to click here


MOVEPGH workshop #4 closing session

East Liberty Carnegie Library, 130 S. Whitfield Street

As part of the on-going, MOVEPGH city-wide master planning effort, the consultant team lead by AECOM with pedestrian/bike-planning specialists Alta Planning + Design will conclude the fourth and final design workshop with a presentation at the Carnegie Library. The presentation will summarize the team’s preliminary recommendations for transportation-related improvements throughout the East End, including potential new bike lanes, paths, cycle tracks and bike parking areas. Carrie Furnace Ride and Tour

Pump House at the Waterfront (Homestead)

RIDE FULL. contact event coordinator if you would like to be added to the waiting list. Beginners & Skilled riders (part of ride will be on Route 837 (Munhall to Rankin) so kids are discouraged from participating. Agenda: Arrive at Pump House in Waterfront to park (if driving) at GAP trailhead. Leave at 6:30pm to bike ride from Pump House to Carrie Furnace in Rankin (~3 mi); SIHC will conduct quick tour of selected Carrie attractions at 7:00pm. Tour should take ~half hour until 7:30pm. Bike ride back to Homestead (~3 mi) and at 8:00pm stop at ZeroFossil Hdqs for quick clean energy equipment demonstration [see www.zerofossil.com for product line] + Bikerator-powered frozen margueritas. At ~8:15pm, bike ride to Blue Dust for apps and taps. Stay as long as you wish; then head directly home or back to Pump House to retrieve vehicles. NOTE: to keep Carrie Tour manageable, we will limit number of cyclists to twenty (20). Please register at email address below. You will receive a confirmation email. If any cancellations, those on waiting list will be contacted day of the ride. Thanks for your cooperation. Event will be cancelled if weather forecast is a rain-out or severe storm predicted. Helmets and lights are required; reflective gear is encouraged due to traffic on Rt 837. Return ride will occur at dusk or later. Blue Dust is family owned pillar of Homestead community that offers amazing beer selection (over two dozen on draft) and good eats. Major Taylor Cycling Club @ The OTB

Come ride with the Pittsburgh Major Taylor Cycling Club on a casual paced city tour. We stay together and take on some hills. This ride will be a weekly, no drop ride around the city (12-18 miles distance) at a recovery pace, (12- 15 mph on the flats). After the ride, some of the eats are discounted by the OTB. Get ready for BikeFest, a fifteen-day celebration of bicycling, August 5th-19th. The activities kick off with Pedal Pittsburgh on August 5th’ which includes a car-free section and a finish line festival. On August 10th the Bike Fest Party returns to the Pittsburgh Opera in the Strip District.
