The weather is gorgeous this weekend – go for a bike ride!
First of all, here’s the forecast for this weekend’s weather. Saturday & Sunday, 80 degrees, clear, sunny skies; you can’t ask for better bike ride weather.
Second of all, today is the kickoff of BikeFest! – a three week festival celebrating all things BIKE in Pittsburgh . Over 100 rides are planned day and night until August 25th when BikeFest culminates with the 20th Anniversary of PedalPGH.
This being the first weekend of the festival, there are oodles of fantastic rides to explore & learn about Pittsburgh via bicycle. See the BikeFest Calendar for full details. Some of this weekend’s highlights are as follows!:
Saturday
9:00am – Lots of Green: Bike + Bus Tour – Let GTECH & GrowPGH show you lots of Pittsburgh-green in its gardens, urban farms, hop yards and playgrounds. See the facebook post for more details.
9:00am – Church Ride Revised – cruise the new trail & learn a bit about the old iconic churches along the way
9:00pm – Light Up Ride – Meet up after the sun goes down & light up the night with other bikers. Bike lights encouraged!
Sunday
9:00am – Cycling Through Samsara: Yoga, Biking, and More Yoga – Learn about the cycle of birth, life, death & rebirth from the seat of a bicycle!
9:00am – Pinball Ride! – Take a ride to the 16th Annual PAPA World Pinball Championship with the crew from Thick Bikes.
10:00am – Troubled Streams Tour – Explore the lost streams and hidden watersheds of Pittsburgh’s East End and the work being done to restore them.
11:00am – The Royal Rumble – A wrestling themed, mixed surface alleycat-like bike ride that will take riders deep into the North Hills of Pittsburgh. Uhh…what?
4:00pm – Bubbles on Bikes Jamboree Ride – Ever blown bubbles on your bike? Want to? With lots of others? The more people who ride together and blow bubbles, the more surreal and fantastic the effect becomes.
4:00pm – Trike Ride – Ride with your tyke on a trike to watch the bubble blowing in Highland Park!
