How to get involved and speak up for Safe Streets!

Mayor Ed Gainey has announced ways to get involved and help shape and inform his new Administration. The Transition Team is producing a report of priorities based off of expert opinion, organization input and community feedback that will be presented to the Mayor.

There are lots of ways to get involved and have your voice heard. Here’s a breakdown:

First, check out the Gainey Transition Webpage. There you can see the three ways to have your voice heard, as well as see the timeline.

1. Ideas for Transition Team Committees – Ends March 15

The Transition Team is comprised of multiple committees, made up of local experts and organizations, focusing on Equitable Development, Education And Workforce Development, Infrastructure And Environment, and Community Health And Safety.

Safer biking and walking are part of many of these committees. In this section, we’re encouraging people to add not only specific project ideas that you may have, but also general things for them to work on, for example “More traffic Calming.” It’s important that the new Administration knows how popular these types of projects have been!

Go to the “Ideas” webpage and you’ll be able to add your thoughts or up-vote, down-vote and comment on others’ ideas.

2. Take a Community Survey – Ends February 10

The Community Survey allows you to rank the priorities that the Transition Committee will be working on. It’s a good way to understand what the new Administration thinks is important as well. Link available on the Gainey Transition Webpage.

3. Attend a Community Forum

The Transition Team has scheduled four community Zoom meetings to hear from residents. Each meeting will focus on each Committee Team. Feedback from these Community Meetings will inform the Transition Team Committees’ recommendations and priorities.
