Our Bike Light Giveaway Lit Up 500+ Riders in 2022 Alone!
We closed out our final Operation Illumination of the season on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022 at The Highline where springlike temperatures brought out dozens of riders to receive free light sets and helmets from BikePGH, along with safety checks from Bryan at Unison Bike Lab.
Amazingly, we gave away over 100 light sets and 20 helmets throughout the evening, bringing our total bike light giveaway for the year to over 500 front and rear light sets. **That’s over 1000 lights given away just this year!** Since 2011, Bike Pittsburgh has been giving away hundreds of free bike lights annually with its Operation Illumination program, and we are so proud to announce that this year has been an absolute record-breaker.
Thank you!
Thanks to Edgar Snyder & Associates, we were able to give away this record number of bike light sets due to their generous sponsorship. We would also like to shout out our awesome partners who were with us at Operation Illumination events throughout this season: POGOH, Makeshift / North Side Bike Coop, Pitt Bike Cave, Carnegie Mellon University, and Unison Bike Lab. Thank you all for providing outreach, bike safety checks, and making these events beneficial for everyone who stopped by along the way. And of course none of this would be possible without all our great Operation Illumination staff, volunteers, and our thousands of donor-members who support this work!
We can’t wait to light you up again next year!
