Learn How to Share the Road with the Free Bicycle Friendly Driver Curriculum

Are you a driver who would like to learn how to best share the road with bikes, or are you a bike rider who would like to know how to ride safely around drivers? The League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly Driver curriculum is a free resource with information to dispel confusion and give drivers and riders alike the knowledge to travel the streets together safely.

According to The League of American Bicyclists:

The curriculum is designed to educate drivers about how and why bicyclists use the road and maneuver in certain ways. After completing the class and quiz, drivers should have a better understanding of not only their responsibility but also ways to adjust their own driving to safely share the road with people on bikes.

The class, available on The League’s Online Learning Center, consists of eleven short yet informational videos on subjects such as lane positioning, how to avoid “dooring” and other common crash scenarios, how to respect bike lanes, and many more. There’s even a guest appearance by some local Pittsburgh bike infrastructure! Consider completing the class and earning your own Bicycle Friendly Driver certificate during your lunch break:
