Taking Pride🏳️‍⚧️🤎🏳️‍🌈 in our community

Pride Month empowers our LGBTQIA+ community, celebrating and reclaiming rights and freedoms that have been denied across history. Now more than ever, when basic human rights are on the line and trans hate is spreading, we recognize the fight for acceptance, equality, and freedom of identity, especially for trans and racially marginalized people. We especially honor the Black trans women pioneers who started this movement that has transformed society. In this ongoing fight, we are constantly reminded of the resilience, courage, and love it takes to live and thrive in the face of unmitigated hatred.

WMNBikePGH is breaking barriers

So what are we doing at BikePGH for Pride? Well to start, we’re supporting tons of community events, plus going on Pride rides (like this Friday’s Pittsburgh Critical Mass!). And, you might’ve heard of our Women & Non-Binary program, WMNBikePGH. Some years ago we created this program to create a space where marginalized gender identities feel safe, seen, and heard in a cycling community. So to us and to many others, Pride month is every month. It’s a continuous journey towards justice and liberation for all – to carve out intentional space and amplify our voices within cycling culture. If you’ve ever felt unseen in a cis-male dominated cycling community, please join our kickass community!

BikePGH’s Women & Non-Binary program was created to break down barriers to bicycling and increase the representation of people who have historically marginalized gender identities. The program is inclusive of trans and cis women, intersex people, non-binary, genderqueer, agender and gender variant folks, as well as those whose gender identity falls outside of the dominant conceptions of gender.

WMNBikePGH aims to connect and empower those who might feel excluded from the male dominant cycling culture with free educational workshops, group rides, and social events in a safe and supportive environment. Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable community for people who want to ride bikes.

Our next WMNBikePGH events:

> Thursday, June 8th – WMNBikePGH’s Annual Ice Cream Group Ride! 🍨

> Friday, July 7th – WMNBikePGH Group Ride (🏔hills, yeah!

> Saturday, October 7th – 10th Annual Women & Non-Binary Bike Summit
