🚲 Break barriers with WMNBikePGH on Oct 7 🚲

Join us for the 10th Annual Women & Non-Binary Bike Summit, taking place at East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) on Saturday October 7th, 20, 2023.

The Summit is an engaging, one-day event featuring presentations, on-bike workshops, and activities focused on boosting skills and encouraging women and non-binary representation in cycling.

This year’s Summit theme is “Bicycles are a tool for change.”

WHO?

BikePGH’s Women & Non-Binary program was created to break down barriers to bicycling and increase the representation of people who have historically marginalized gender identities. The program is inclusive of trans and cis women, intersex people, non-binary, genderqueer, agender, and gender variant folks, as well as those whose gender identity falls outside of the dominant conceptions of gender.

WHAT?

The WMNBikePGH Summit is a one-day community-building and educational experience that aims to empower trans and cis women, non-binary, genderqueer, agender and gender variant people of all ages and abilities to feel comfortable and confident riding bikes around the city.

The Summit offers a well-rounded mix of bicycle education, energizing activities like cyclist-friendly yoga, workshops, a creative expression arts activity, on-bike adventures, and and after-party / group ride. More information on our programming below.

MEET KESHIA ROBERSON, LEARN A NEW SKILL, SWAP GEAR, AND MORE!

The day is full of programming that accommodates everyone, no matter where in your cycling journey you may be.

This year’s Summit once again features a morning yoga wake up session with Open Up, breakfast and lunch included, a community bike clothing and gear swap, workshops, and more! And get ready, because we’re really bulking up this year’s gear swap with brand new stuff donated to us by some big bike brands.

We are also thrilled to have this year’s superstar keynote speaker with us – Keshia Roberson, founder of Major Knox Adventures, a minority women-owned wellness company that provides affordable trip experiences to promote radical joy in the outdoors.

In the afternoon, you’ll sign up for an afternoon session of your choice: Choose either the sit-down learning session OR an on-your-bike skill building workshop. For the sit-down session, you’ll stay at East End Cooperative Ministry and hear from Eva Kloiber of Liberation Fab, as well as Opal Violet who will be teaching us alllllllll about wheels.

If you opt for an on-your-bike skill-building workshop instead, you’ll head to either The Wheel Mill indoor bike park, Free Ride or, to Frick Park for mountain biking.

If you sign up for the beginner or intermediate workshops at The Wheel Mill, you must provide your own bike (BMX, mountain bikes, hybrids – basically just not road bikes. You’ll need tires with traction.)

After the workshops and afternoon sessions, attend our celebratory group bike ride and optional after-party at Square Cafe to cap off the day with complimentary appetizers.
