On our OpenStreetsPGH route from Downtown to South Side, we have 2 miles of car-free fun planned for May 11 from 10am to 2pm. From historic structures to neighborhood-favorite coffee shops, here are just some of the hottest spots you can eat, shop, play, support local business, and enjoy time connecting with friends and neighbors.
DOWNTOWN
PPG PLAZA WATER FEATURE – 1 Third Ave
Take a break from biking, walking, and rolling at OpenStreetsPGH to sit by the cool spray of the PPG Plaza water features and admire the nearly one million square feet of mirrored glass Neo-gothic architecture that has been an icon of Pittsburgh’s skyline since 1981.
ORIGINAL OYSTER HOUSE – 20 Market Square
153 years old, the Original Oyster House is Pittsburgh’s oldest bar and restaurant. Stop in for their Famous Ribbon Cut Pittsburgh Taters, made fresh daily New England Clam Chowder, and a little taste of Pittsburgh history.
CHERRIES DINER – 115 Forbes Ave
If you’re looking for classic diner fare with a mom and pop feel, this is the place! Stop in for Cherry Bomb Pancakes, stuffed french toast, Kitchen Sink Omelette and home fries. You won’t be disappointed.
MILLIE’S HOMEMADE ICE CREAM – 246 Forbes Ave
Is there a better way to cool off on OpenStreetsPGH day than with refreshing homemade ice cream and sorbet? Millie’s has become a Pittsburgh staple with flavors ranging from Chad’s Vanilla for the traditional ice cream lover, all the way to BikePGH’s collaboration Rocky Ride for those who want to mix it up.
CAFE MOMENTUM – 268 Forbes Ave

SOUTH SIDE
CILANTRO & AJO – 901 E Carson Street
After the 10th Street Bridge, hang a right onto E Carson to fill your belly at Cilantro & Ajo. In 2015, owners Anthony and Marlyn with their daughters moved to Pittsburgh from Venezuela, bringing with them their passion and talent for cooking. Their arepas are boasting with flavor and spice that few can duplicate. If you are seeking a unique taste of South America, look no further!
KASSAB’S – 1207 E Carson Street
Directly on the OpenStreetsPGH route you will find classic Lebanese, Mediterranean & other Middle Eastern dishes at Kassab’s. Try out their falafel, tabbouli, grape leaves, and lamb kebabs for a delicious and flavorful meal.
THICK BIKES – 62 S 15th Street
We cannot say enough good things about this bike shop! Locally owned with a wealth of knowledge and expertise, these guys will get you in tip top shape with gear for your cycling adventures or fitted with a new bike ready to roll. Not to mention, Thick Bikes always supports OpenStreetsPGH by hosting a party on event day outside the shop. Be sure to check them out for a good time!
RE/ACTIVE – 80 S 15th Street
One of South Side’s newest stores is woman-owned Re/Active. Opening in late 2023, the shop is Pittsburgh’s largest secondhand selection of the most popular activewear styles and brands. Do well for the planet and your wallet by updating your athleisure wardrobe here!
DELANIE’S COFFEE – 1737 E Carson Street
Need a mid-day pick me up while you’re enjoying OpenStreetsPGH? Pop into Delanie’s for beverages that will give you a little boost. While you’re there, take a look at the unique décor that is updated periodically by work from local artists. The open-air storefront is a great spot to watch people bustling on E. Carson Street during the event.
NICK’S IMPORTS – 1913 E Carson Street
Nick’s Imports has been providing Pittsburgh with unique, quality leather bags, clothing, jewelry, and home decor for 21 years. Nick’s products are inspired by different parts of the world, including Morocco, Turkey, and more!
HIGHWAY ROBBERY VINTAGE – 2012 E Carson Street

While not directly on the event route, Velum Fermentation is worth the stroll a few blocks off E Carson to Jane Street. With delicious house brewed beers, NA options, delicious eats from Cold Friends Kitchen, and vintage arcade games, you can’t go wrong coming here after OpenStreetsPGH (or anytime!) to relax.
