Complete with radar detected bike signal!
From westbound Forbes Ave, to get into the Forbes Ave protected bike lane, you have two options:
- Option 1: Simply use the left turn lane + Yield to oncoming traffic until you can maneuver left into the bike lane. This is a good option if traffic is light or you want to keep moving.
- Option 2: Press the pedestrian button to use the ped signal. Bikes are specifically allowed on the sidewalk here and are allowed to use the pedestrian signal to cross. This is a good option if traffic is heavy or if you want a more comfortable way to get into the bike lane. Please yield to pedestrians!

Coming off the bike lane from the eastbound direction, you’ll find Pittsburgh’s newest Bike Signal.
Simply wait at the stop bar, and the high tech radar detection will spot you and trigger the exclusive bike phase, where you can then ride whichever direction you need to go.
